Biography
A native of Washington, D.C., and long-time resident of Montgomery County, Maryland, Alicia brings deep local insight and over two decades of legal experience to every case she handles. Alicia matriculated at The George Washington School of Law. After graduation she practiced in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She has been practicing family law since 2004 and is a seasoned professional with experience both inside and outside the courtroom. She is known for her individualized approach, tailoring legal strategies to the unique goals and circumstances of each client.
Alicia is trained in the practice of Collaborative Law and Mediation and frequently works to resolves family disputes outside the court whenever possible. As a skilled negotiator, she strives to achieve durable and amicable resolutions. Alicia is a zealous advocate for her clients and will strive to achieve their goals.
She has substantial experience handling high conflict custody disputes involving emergency relief, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues, and allegations of abuse or neglect. Alicia serves as a Court-Appointed Best Interest Attorney (BIA) and Child Privilege Attorney (CPA), roles that underscore her commitment to protecting the well-being of children in contested matters. As an experienced litigator and a mother, Alicia understands the personal stakes in family law cases and is deeply committed to guiding her clients through these challenging times with clarity and compassion.
Alicia is also committed to serving diverse families and is experienced in representing LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples in family law matters, including divorce, custody, adoption, and the creation and dissolution of domestic partnerships and agreements related thereto. She understands the nuanced legal challenges facing LGBTQIA+ clients and works to ensure their rights and families are fully protected under the law.
Outside the office, Alicia enjoys hiking and international travel, and spending time with her dog, Alaska, a friendly Bichon Frisé and honorary member of the firm. Alaska often joins Alicia at the office, offering comfort and support to those clients who welcome it.
